Day 1
Depart from London for Thurnham Keep near Bearsted, a beautiful historic home offering bed and breakfast accommodation in glorious grounds.
3:15pm: Visit to Canterbury Cathedral and possibly evensong (which begins at 3:15 pm). Guided tours are not available on Sundays.
6:15pm: Dinner at the Black Horse Inn at the end of the Thurnham Keep driveway.
Day 2
Depart : 9:45 for your tour of the Kent/Sussex Weald.
Arrive: 10:30 am: A before hours private tour of the glorious Penshurst Place, home of Her Majesty’s representative, Viscount de L’Isle and his delightful wife Isabel.
Afterwards, visit the atmospheric Hever Castle a moated ancestral home where Queen Anne Boleyn spent her childhood before her marriage to King Henry VIII.
Then visit to an award-winning Chapel Down English vineyard nearby with tasting.
Arrive: 8:30 pm: Dinner at the Pig noted for its good food.
Night at Thurnham Keep.
Day 3
Begin with a visit to the famous seaside town of Rye, where many films have been made over the years and iconic television series Foyle’s War. Perhaps morning coffee in one of the quaint cafes, before a visit to Battle Abbey, the site of the Battle of Hastings, and a pit stop at the Hub at Quarry Farm Café in Bodiam for lunch, with sight of the magnificent medieval castle. This has become a community ‘go to’ for the local area and is well known for good food and a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
Return to Thurnham Keep for the third night. Dinner at one of the fine local restaurants nearby.
