Luxurious Villa Cali is set in a small, picturesque, medieval resort in the north-western part of the peninsula, 2.5km from Oprtalj and 11km from Motovun. The hilltop views are absolutely stunning from this magical place. You will marvel at the stunning vineyards, olive groves and cattle breeding on the high plateau. There are a wealth of delicious mushrooms including excellent truffles in the woods. In the resort there is a supermarket, bakery and restaurant.
Villa Cali is absolutely beautiful with incredibly modern, trendy touches. It was built in 2019 to a very high spec. With 4 immaculate bedrooms, it sleeps 8 guests. The terrace, pool and garden are astonishing. The plot is 1500sqm. The garden has such lush Mediterranean planting which blends so well with the glorious countryside. The corner swimming pool is spectacular and can be heated if required for an extra charge. You can cool off in the wonderful water and admire the fabulous location. Even the super outdoor shower is cool and chic. The sunny terrace is super spacious with deluxe loungers. The alfresco dining is covered with a lovely barbecue and outdoor kitchen space. The outside of Villa Cali is a magnificent warm terracotta colour. It is so welcoming and inviting.
The open-plan living, dining and kitchen space is contemporary and sleek and the sofa so soft and squishy! You will feel very indulged in this villa with the wonderful décor and furnishings. Also on the ground floor are 2 luxury bedrooms, each with twin beds. The ensuite bathrooms are pristine and absolutely beautiful. Both bedrooms open to the garden with outdoor furniture on the terrace for your morning cup of coffee.
On the upper floor there are 2 deluxe king bedrooms with dazzling ensuites. They also exit to an excellent terrace and super views. There are sun loungers if you want to escape for a little quiet relaxation.

The location of Villa Cali is spectacular. It is 2.5km from the centre of Oprtalj. Many consider Oprtalj to be one of the most picturesque towns of Northern Istria. It was formally a fort surrounded by defensive walls, offering views all the way to the sea 30km away. The views of Motovun and the Mirna Valley are so beautiful. You will find charming restaurants serving delicious plates of truffle ravioli, pasta with ‘sugo’ which is Italian beef stew and delicious house wines. Desserts are likely to include ricotta, walnuts and honey, so yummy! About 10 minutes drive from Oprtalj is the almost forgotten town of Zavrsje. Vina Rossi is a lovely little winery in the village of Bajkini, just outside Vizinada, which also produces a delicious Nostromo gin. It is always good to call in advance to get a special tasting. You will gain an insight into the production process of the wines and distilled spirits, wine taste and enjoy the gin and tonics spiced with local herbs, spices and berries. It is a great detour if you are making a trip to Motovun and Groznjan.
This is a magnificent area for cycling. The famous Perenzana cycling route runs from Trieste through Piran, a Venetian town in Slovenia, Portoroz, the Slovenian Las Vegas, the Istrian Hills and to Porec and its 6th century Euphrasia Basilica.
Motovun is a captivating little walled town perched on a 277m hill in the Mirna River valley. It is astonishingly gorgeous with lost-in-time views over the verdant valley and the town rising above it looks like something from a fairy tale. Within the atmospheric cluster of Romanesque and Gothic buildings you will find a smattering of artist studios, restaurants and cute boutiques. Motovun holds a popular film festival which takes place every summer.
Umag, 30km away on the coast, has wonderful Blue Flag beaches. Katoro Beach is a mix of concrete, rocky and pebbly parts and has a fabulous range of facilities and restaurants. The Old Town of Umag, on a peninsula is utterly charming. Umag hosts various concerts and festivals including the UmagoBlues music festival, Umagination, the festival of electronic music and also it hosts the ATP Croatian Open Umag tennis tournament.
