Occupying a stunning position on the northern coast of Korčula, Apartment Durada is the ideal choice for a couple or small group seeking a Croatian island adventure. Breathtaking views of the Adriatic and beautiful sun terraces make this apartment particularly irresistible.
Apartment Durada is located in quiet Crnja-Luka, just along the coast from the equally scenic village of Prigradica, and around 9km from one of the island’s main ports, Vela Luka. This gives it easy access to locations on the mainland too, with regular crossings from Vela Luka to Split well worth taking advantage of. Crnja-Luka is around 40 minutes’ drive from the island’s main town which shares its name, and it’s a very pleasant drive taking in beautiful countryside along the way.
A shaded seating area and sun loungers look out to the ocean at Apartment Durada, and a dining area on the terrace is also accessible from the main living area inside. It’s easy to walk down to the water’s edge, where there is a slide and steps into the sea, and a number of other areas to sunbathe. The apartment also provides a barbecue for more of the outdoor lifestyle, and some bikes on which you can explore the local area.
This 2nd-floor apartment offers a comfortable living space with satellite TV, DVD, PlayStation and Wi-Fi, and an attractive kitchen with large fridge freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine. There is another dining area inside too. Three double bedrooms, two of which have balconies, and two bathrooms can also be found on the same level.
Korčula has many pretty beaches, villages and towns to discover within a short drive. One of the larger centres on the island’s western side, Blato, is just 7km away and features a pretty tree-lined avenue and park, as well as a range of restaurants and shops.
The island of Korčula is so picturesque it’s a wonder that it’s not overrun with visitors. The beautiful Old Town of Korčula sits pretty amongst olive groves, vineyards and pine forests on the island’s north-eastern side, looking out towards the Pelješac peninsula.
As one of the Adriatic’s more populous islands, Korčula is well-prepared for the visitors it receives, many of whom appreciate its laid-back vibe and natural beauty. The main town is a lovely place to wander, with street markets, pavement cafés and old buildings to admire. Look out for St Mark’s Cathedral and the imposing Revelin Tower which once marked the entrance to the walled city. The view, looking out over the harbour, is a charming one.
Around 15km from the town of Korčula, the lovely Pupnatska Luca beach is also worth a visit; aside from chilling out in the sun, its crystal blue waters are great for swimming and snorkelling. Elsewhere on the island, you can try white-water rafting in Blato, or diving in Vela Luka.
You may find some visitor attractions based around Marco Polo’s (possibly tenuous) connection to Korčula, as he is something of an unofficial mascot for the island. However, there are many more authentic experiences to be had on the island. With galleries, winery tours and many beautiful villages to see, avoid the tourist traps and keep it real. For an unforgettable taste of the true Korčula, head to Vela Luka and take a boat trip to Proizd island, just off the west coast – a naturally stunning spot you won’t want to miss.
