Originally the home of Mr. Hanif Yusoof and his family, the villa was born out of a passion to share the epitome of luxury, the warmth of a family home and a destination that evokes a feeling of home. The name, ‘Ishq’ stems from the Arabic term for divine love. This serves as our inspiration to continually bring you experiences that leave lasting impressions. We pay homage to Sri Lanka’s rich history with the balanced auras of Dutch and English heritage lingering about at every nook and cranny. From the luxurious brushed brass fittings to the elegantly landscaped garden, our attention to detail is evident in the design of the villa; taking you back to the old-world charm of the colonial era while our delightfully intricate details offer the most unique luxury experience in Colombo.
The villa is centrally located in a quiet neighbourhood, offering easy access to the city’s upscale restaurants, lively bars, healthy food cafes, excellent contemporary art galleries, and shopping centres. Within a 5-kilometer radius of the villa are ancient temples, museums, a golf course, the bustling fort, and the vibrant Pettah bazaar. One of the most enjoyable ways to discover this city is on foot, either by yourself, or with a knowledgeable guide. Villa Colombo Sri Lanka is a 40-minute drive (35km) from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and a 2-hour drive (120km) from the historic port city of Galle.
Reservations at the villa are on Bed and Breakfast basis. All other meals will be served and charged for accordingly from the à la carte menu. Our menus offer an array of options from Sri Lankan to International cuisines. We also offer specialty Memoni cuisine. All dietary requirements can be catered to – including gluten and vegan meals – and our in-house chefs are flexible with creating dishes off the menu. Pork is not offered at the villa. Packed or picnic meals can be provided to guests when venturing out during the day. The villa does not have a liquor license. Guests are encouraged to bring their own liquor which the team will be happy to chill and serve. There will be no corkage fee.
Library
The reading corner is tucked away where you can quietly read something from our extensive reading collection. The collection has some of our owner’s favourite picks and other notable novels and fictions that you can dive into while enjoying your favourite beverage.
Spa & Jacuzzi
Holidays are supposed to be relaxing, giving you time off from the rest of the world to sit back and just breathe. We’ve got a Sauna and Jacuzzi, enclosed within a private area, to help you do just that. You can also experience the rich heritage Sri Lanka has in Ayurvedic and Spa sessions. This can be arranged on request.
Pool
Nestled behind the courtyard is your very own private pool. Placed against the backdrop of a beautiful green wall that is soothing to the eye, the pool is the perfect place to unwind or rev up your energy after an eventful day.
Gym
Keep up with your fitness schedule even while on holiday. We’ve got a fully equipped gym that you can make use of, and we can also arrange for a personal trainer if you need.
The villa has 12 dedicated staff including a Villa Manager, chefs, butlers and villa attendants. An outsourced security guard will also be present on site.
