Villa Sobia Morocco

Luxury Villas
| 4 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

Villa Sobia is set in one and a half aces of beautiful private gardens amidst an ancient palm grove, this truly romantic setting makes it a perfect location for a special family celebration or break away with friends.  With four absolutely stunning bedrooms Villa Sobia can accommodate up to eight guests.

This truly spectacular villa is only a twenty minute drive from the centre of Marrakech yet you find yourself in the most peaceful of settings.  The villa itself looks so unassuming on arrival but immediately inside you are enveloped in the warmth of the Moroccan hues and the traditional décor.  There are several cosy living spaces within the villa allowing for you all to relax together or peel off for some quiet time away from everyone else, the warm terracotta furnishings, Berber rugs and local artwork encouraging you to gather around the beautiful tiled fireplaces on the sumptuous sofas to shut out the chill of the dark desert nights and reminisce on the day just passed.

The four bedrooms are quite magnificent, each having access to a private dressing area, stunning marble bathroom, an open fire should you feel a chill in the air as evening falls and comfortable seating opening onto the most beautiful terrace which runs around the whole property.  There can be nowhere better to relax than sitting here in the shade of the olive and orange trees listening to the burbling of the water from the small fountains and water features.  The décor in the bedrooms is much simpler than that in the lounge and dining areas but no less grand, the plain walls broken up with magnificent traditional wall hangings and lanterns.

The grounds are simply breathtaking, the large outdoor pool is set a little way back from the villa with its own Bhou, dining area and magnificent furnished balcony which overlooks the garden and palm grove to the mountains beyond.  There are several secluded spots for some time out whether it be in the shade of the trees, sitting by the ornamental ponds or chilling on the rattan sofa under the pergola intertwined with bougainvillea.

Villa Sobia is so breathtakingly beautiful it will be difficult to tear yourself away to explore Marrakech itself or the surrounding area.  With the centre of the ‘Red City’ only a twenty minute drive away you can make the best of both worlds.

The medina is the old historic district of Marrakech, the main square, Djemaa El-Fna is surrounded by endless labyrinths of souks (bazaars) and alleyways where thousands of stallholders sell anything from cactus silk scarves to aromatic herbs and Arabian-style lamps.  If you are interested in exploring the less-touristy parts of the medina it really is worth hiring a guide to take you through the back streets of the medina where you can find old caravanserais and watch artisans in their workshops. It is a different world to that of the bustling tourist centre.  It is most definitely worth revisiting on your own with the confidence gained in negotiating your way around and engaging with the bartering stall holders.  The square really comes to life in the evening, when open-air restaurants sizzle and smoke and the smell of grilled meats and spices fills the air.  There are a few fantastic roof top cafés and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the spectacle unfold as the evening progresses.

The gardens of Marrakech are as famous as the medina itself and with or without a particular interest in gardening you will be sure to enjoy time spent in these beautiful retreats.  The Aguedal Garden is a popular stop for Moroccan families picnicking in the shade of the surrounding trees while the Menara Garden is an agricultural estate of irrigated olive orchards. Be sure to visit the green tiled pavilion, set against the backdrop of the high Atlas Mountains, the views from here are simply stunning. The Majorelle Gardens once owned by Yves Saint-Laurent are immaculately maintained and home a small museum which displays his eclectic artwork.

The villa itself is in very close proximity to a great choice of restaurants with a truly international choice of cuisines, but Morocco is of course well known for its traditional cuisine.  There are plenty of options if you would like to take a cookery course – after shopping for ingredients in the souk, you learn to make a traditional dish such as a tagine, flat bread or how to preserve lemons, which are used in countless Moroccan dishes.
