Villa Aashif Morocco

Luxury Villas
| 4 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

Villa Aashif is a stunning modern villa with accommodation for up to eight guests set in a small development of nine properties. With over an acre of private gardens and a large outdoor pool it’s hard to believe you are only a twenty minute drive from the centre of the buzzing city of Marrakech.
The entrance to Villa Aashif is so unassuming, yet as soon as you pass under the entrance arch you are welcomed into the most elegant of open living spaces as is the Moroccan style.
The fusion of Moroccan tradition and modern design create very different moods, on the right a large lounge in neutral colours lifted by modern lighting, a huge terracotta carpet and open fire for those evenings when the sky darkens and the stars come out.  On the left a gorgeous room with a brighter aspect taking advantage of a superb view over the swimming pool and garden beyond.  The indoor dining area sits between these two rooms under a mezzanine floor filling the area with light from above and from the glass doors which open onto the poolside terrace. The fully fitted kitchen and utility area are discreetly hidden away as is the downstairs bedroom.
On the upper floor is the master bedroom with glorious bathroom and private furnished terrace looking over to the snow capped Atlas Mountains, a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and access to the terrace with the same magnificent views plus a fourth room with twin beds and ensuite facilities.
The outdoor pool is unusually large at 20m in length, even with the shallow first few metres to allow for children, you still have plenty scope for a good swim to cool down or before breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.  The terraced area around three sides of the property is very thoughtfully set out with large soft loungers, large rattan sofas a full size dining table plus several smaller more private areas for when you just want to take some time out.  The lawns are immaculately maintained as are the fabulous orange, olive and pine trees which offer little spots of respite from the midday sun.
There is no real reason to want to leave this beautiful villa and the relaxing experience it offers but I imagine you will be drawn to pop into the centre of Marrakech to see the souks and soak up the atmosphere as night falls and the city really comes alive.
Sightseeing in Marrakech is best done on foot. The historical sights, including the Saadian Tombs, Koutoubia Mosque, and the El Badi Palace can be done in one morning. The Saadian Tombs largely date to a glorious period in Moroccan history, around the time when sultans controlled vast swathes of territory and many key trade routes. When these sultans died, they were buried here in splendid halls beautifully decorated using marble, carved alabaster and delicate zellij mosaic. The Alaouites who succeeded the Saadians feared the love the population had for them and built a huge wall around the tombs to ensure they did not become a focus for dissent. The tombs remained hidden and largely unknown until an aerial survey in the early 20th century revealed their location, and a narrow passage was cut through the surrounding wall.
The souks of Marrakech fulfil most people’s fantasies of what an Arabian bazaar should be like. A maze of streets and narrow alleys are divided up into different quarters, each distinguished by the craft practised there. In the Dyer’s Souk you will walk under billowing sheets of cotton, freshly dyed and drying out, whilst the Carpenter’s Souk is redolent with the smell of freshly cut wood, being turned into intricate furniture before your eyes and the Metal Souk resounds to the sound of hammers and bellows as lamps, tables and benches are coerced into shape.
A guided tour is a wonderful introduction to the tastes and smells of traditional Moroccan cuisine, your tour through the culinary offerings of Marrakech’s Djemaa El Fna and the surrounding souks is a lovely way to experience the city’s most famous landmark. The best of these start around 4.30pm as the square begins to come alive and the city’s street food sellers begin to set up shop. Taking in all aspects of the ingredients, which make up the traditional cuisine from the famous fresh oranges and mint tea to tasting olives, Moroccan pastries and grilled meats, the trail also offers the opportunity to see how the locals cook, with a visit to a traditional communal bread oven. The tour ends at a restaurant overlooking the square, where a tasting menu of traditional local cuisine will be available for you to enjoy.
